November 10, 2006 - HIGH HEEL SHOES AND BOOTS WITH THIN PLATFORMS

2006 appears to be the year when there is an abundance of high heel shoes and boots with thin platform soles, one inch or less, available at all price levels from top designer shoe stores to discount shoe stores (like Payless). Many of the platform soles are only about 0.5 inch thick.

This is a positive development as platform soles protect the balls of the feet against rough and uneven outdoor ground surfaces like concrete and asphalt. This helps prevent callouses from developing on the bottom of the balls of the feet, wearing away of the pads in the balls of the feet and the need for collagen injections (cosmetic surgery).

June 8, 2003 - MISS UNIVERSE 2003

To see the new Miss Universe Amelia Vega, who is 6'1" in height, wear high heels is really terrific. Tall women tend to wear high heels less than shorter women. Perhaps, Amelia will wear high heels in her public appearances and set a trend for other tall women.

May 11, 2003 - AN AWESOME PAIR OF HIGH HEEL BOOTS

If you like high heel boots, check out this Sunday's USA Weekend Magazine (the insert in many Sunday newspapers). There is an advertisement for a new muffin bar (like granola bar) with a woman wearing an eye-popping pair of black, knee-high high heel boots. This pair of boots could duo for fashion or fetish wear. It had thick heels, long pointed toe boxes and white laces up the back.

Also, the woman was wearing a muffin over her buttock. If that does not make sense, then you just have to see the picture.

March 23, 2003 - INCREASE POPULARITY OF HIGH HEELS

In 2001 and 2002, there was a noticeable increase in the number of women wearing high heels in public places. This trend appears to be continuing in 2003 for at least three different reasons.

First, there has been wide acceptance of the new "blade" high heel. The blade is one of the best (if not the best) style of high heels ever designed.

The blade high heel gives the appearance of being a higher heel compared to other styles of a high heel, when viewed from the sides. Also, the blade high heel is more stable (or less wobbly) to walk in than its main competitor, the stiletto high heel. This greater stability can help prevent many sprained ankles.

Second, there has been enormous popularity with the "luxurious" look of Manolo Blahnik's, Jimmy Choo's and other look-a-like high spiked heel shoes and boots. These stiletto heels have become common status symbols for classy women. These shoes also offer a little bit of extra space in their long pointed toe boxes, that can make a huge difference in comfort for some people's toes.

Third, there has been greater availability of high heels with wider square toe boxes. Besides providing more comfort, these wider toe boxes can help prevent many injuries and damage to the toes (that in turn, can prevent many people from wearing high heels).
