If you are interested in the history of high heel shoes,
the best work about it that I seen to date is the book titled
Shoes: A Celebration of Pumps, Sandals, Slippers & More by Linda O'Keefe.
(1996 Workman Publishing). It contains over a thousand photographs with some high heels
dating back to circa 1700. Also, for a scholarly work, click here for a
History of Footwear by Cameron Kippen of the Department of Podiatry
at Curtin University of Technology.
